Heyo!

I’m sorry that I’ve let this blog die :/

Monetarily I have become inept at following the pace of army building so I had to drop out of the league. But it’s kind of alright since the league died shortly after anyways since not so many people were following up on it and such.

BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS!

Though I am spending more time playing Dungeons and Dragons at this moment in time, I will start the Warhammer a rollin’ again. I’ve already played a couple more games with the Tau (2-0 versus Imperial Guard; 0-2 versus Demons).

Also, I’ve started painting and I’m having my friend’s dad help me with his techniques so they should hopefully look good when they’re done.

What does this mean for you?

MOAR!!

That’s the theme for today.

I currently have a comfortable force of 500-650pts with just one Battle Box Thing-That-It’s-Supposed-To-Be-Called. But I plan on purchasing multiples of aforementioned box so that I may grow to rival my Space Wolf army of 3,000+ points.

Maybe after all that’s done (at least a year from now, hahaha) I could start a blog for my Space Wolf? I usually go to http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.com/ which is how I became a great competitive Warhammer 40k player in like, 2 months. That site is brilliant. One of the writers there also plays a Tau army! :D He also has a website similar to the Space Wolf one! http://warhammer-tau-army.blogspot.com/

So, yep. This is all good.

Heyo!

I finally primed my army since I’ve finally decided on a color scheme. I used the Dawn of War: Dark Crusade army painter to find something that looked cool, haha! Using the Fire Warrior as a model, I’m gonna go with a dark, faded red gore for the armor, black for their jump suit, and probably a coat or two of bleached bone for the trim. I think I might added some enchanted blue to the gun where the line are or something. I saw a really cool pic online of someone doing that and I’m gonna paint everything else first and then try to visualize if I should add that or not. We’ll see!

I played a game today instead of painting my models cuz I wanted to get some Kauyon practice in. It went pretty well, I remember playing against Tau with my Space Wolves so I had a rough idea how to pull things off. Pictures to come soon about that. I didn’t make a video battle report because it wasn’t an official game for the league seeing as how my army was only primed. Next week should be good, though!

I’ll try to take screen shots of what the DoW Tau look like to give you the idea for the paint scheme. Idk, but my laptop doesn’t want to take a screen shot and it’s bugging me :/

Oh well, the patient hunter gets the prey so sooner or later things will fall into place.

Paint Scheme Dilemma

So… you know how I said I’d be right back with that pic of the guys primed?

Yeah… I had second thoughts about what I wanted to do with their paint scheme. I was thinking about going for the Star Wars Clone Troopers look, but I think that’d get way too boring way too fast… So I’m trying to decide on something different. I kinda wanna do something unique, even though I see a lot of Urban camo like stuff and I think it looks brilliant, I’m searching for something out of the box for this one…

I have black primer so something dark since I wouldn’t like to waste a lot of lighter colored coats just to get a faded look… Although faded could be cool. But I still don’t want to waste a bunch of coats. I’m trying to come up with something simple. 3 colors at least… idk, for some reason this is a hard one. I’m usually better at the creative part of conceptualizing than this but… this has really got me beat. I’ll keep thinking and thinking but I’m going to try to come to a decision by tonight and spend all of Friday or so painting the crap outta them so I can play Saturday!

Any ideas from you lot?

And I just finished my Kroot so I thought I’d give them the spotlight routine as well. These guys were extremely easy to put together until the last 2. I have no idea why they were, but I think I’ve wasted at least 3 clips of imaginary ammo for my finger gun aimed at my temple.

I’m kinda scared to paint them, but I think they’ll look alright. I’ve seen them done professionally and Kroot can really shine when painted well. Unfortuantely, I don’t believe I’ll paint them well :/

Anyways, I’m about to prime everything and it’s Xeno-mother, so I’ll be right back with a portrait of my entire 550pt army, primed and ready to be painted!

Heyo!

So today, I moved on to finish modeling my Stealth Team, Crysis Battlesuit Commander and Fire Warriors!

Also, I noticed that the Devilfish came with a full scale model for the Tank Commander, so instead of popping him in their, I placed his butt on a base and made him an objective! I used that weird technology crap thingy that they really intended to be the objective and I gave him a spare Pulse Rifle. I think it’s an awesome objective marker that might actually be worth dying for! Just think about receiving a short ranged homing/distress signal and coming to find that a Tank Commander has been separated and marooned from the rest of his Hunting Cadre! Or maybe all the Cadre was destroyed but him, and the enemy is using some Kauyon tactics of their own to spring an ambush! See how fun this is? Damn, I’m really loving this Hobby League, which is what I’m calling it, but I think we’ve dubbed it the “Tumblr League” hahaha.

Totally forgot to bring my manual with me and I didn’t have my computer with me at the Wizard’s Wall today to look up any cool ways tp put them together so I just had to go by the pics in the codex and wing it! And personally, I think they turned out alright. I bet I would’ve had a better time if I had done so :/ annoying as hell as the arms would fall off, then I’d try to put them back on and press too hard so they came off the base and their head would roll off. FUN. TIMES. Many a curse word was uttered.

Anyways, that’s all I had time to do at the Wizard’s Wall for today! More to come as always!

So last night I put together my Devilfish! Instead of reading the instruction manual, I visited GW’s site and followed their guide to modeling and painting it!

I only painted the interior since I didn’t want to spend the rest of my night painting the entire thing. If you can notice from the pic (It’s hard to eve see it in person so, it’s ok to not see it) I have painted the Sept symbol for the 3rd phase colony that the Tau codex actually gave some information on: Kis’M’Yen.

This Sept took over the planet through mostly stealth missions, so I’m thinking that I’m going to have to go with a darker color scheme. I’m shying away from camouflage, but I may have to go in that direction.

Good news about this decision though, is that it gives me a perfect intro into the Story of 3/6 armies in the league! (2 IG and 1 DA) So I should have fun times making up some story and background flavor for the battles and see how this all progresses.

Oh yeah, I finished the easy little gun drones too. I decided to knock all those out at once.

I finally bought all my supplies Friday!

Tau Battle Force Box - $93
Privateer Press Primer (Black) - 10
Glade Grass Flocking - $9

As you can see,the total came out to $110.93, not bad for 4-5 units and a vehicle with primer and flocking.

I wanted to buy white primer, but I’ve heard that it doesn’t really matter, and if it does, I’ll just change the paint scheme accordingly. Which would really suck, but hopefully it won’t come to that.

Real quick, this is to explain why I’m starting a blog about my new Tau army!

The Wizard’s Wall is hosting an escalation league to promote the purchasing and modeling and painting of new armies!
Part of the rules of said league require that I make a blog about it to easily be followed about the progress.
They suggested Tumblr and I already have 2 blogs on here so why not make it 3?

So that’s that. Here’s the link to the officially posted rules so you can have your own look at what I’m dealing with.

I thought we started at 500pts, but it looks like we’re going to be heading out at 550pts unless that was a typo. Either way I’ll make a list for both situations.

If you have any questions on any of my shorthand, the Jargen I use, or I just post confusing as hell stuff, please bug me! I’d love to answer any questions you have and provide websites and all that jazz
